The Birmingham 2022 Community Engagement Archive provides a record of the Community Engagement events delivered before, during and after the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, with a view to building a lasting legacy in Birmingham and the West Midlands, and providing a resource for future major games host cities, regions and nations.

The Organising Committee of the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, along with Games Partners, have worked toward delivering a once in a lifetime opportunity for communities of Birmingham, the West Midlands and beyond, to experience the largest Sports and Cultural programme in our Region to date.


Underpinned by core objectives set out in the EDI Framework and Action plan, a targeted approach to engagement has been delivered to increase representation of communities reflective of the West Midlands and its residents.
 

For the overarching mission of a ‘Games for Everyone’, the Birmingham 2022 Community Engagement Team have delivered and extensive programme of community engagement activity that has been delivered at the heart of communities, with a targeted engagement taking place within the 1–3-mile radius of Games venues.
 

Driven by our Games missions, this has involved (but not limited to) three core engagement ‘Modes of delivery’ in alignment with major campaigns and Games activity, to increase participation and engagement, which include:

 

  1. Community Roadshows and Events

  2. ​Community Hubs

  3. Community Engagement Forums
     

Informing, consulting, and collaborating with local stakeholders and Games partners to deliver engagement that is meaningful, evidenced, Impactful and builds legacy.
